As the temperatures drop, you may find yourself wanting to stay indoors, but if not, here are some great local events that might sound interesting to you!

All Season

Mill Creek Metroparks Winter Celebration at Fellows Riverside Garden

The Riverside Garden will be decorated for Christmas with trees, lights, etc. Saturday nights in December everything will be lit up from 5-7 p.m.

Boardman Park Holiday Lights Display

December 3rd- January 7th, Boardman Park will have all of their light displays up to be viewed any night between 5 p.m-10 p.m. If you turn your car radios to 88.9 FM then 21 light displays will be synchronized with classic Christmas songs on the radio!

December 1:

Youngstown will host this year’s parade and Christmas Tree Lighting, downtown. There will be musical performances, activities, as well as OH!WOW moments that began at 5 p.m. The holiday parade will begin at 6:30, and the Tree Lighting and pictures with Santa will be at 7:15 p.m. at 20 Federal Place.    

December 2nd:

Poland Township will host their annual Tree lighting in the center of Poland at Township Hall. This is sure to be a family fun event open to everyone!

December 3rd:

At 2 p.m., the Southern Park Mall will host a holiday concert, with a guest appearance by Vanessa Campagna, a Nashville recording artist.

December 6th:

YSU will host their annual “Carols and Cocoa”, at 7 p.m in Stambaugh Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the Dana Symphonic Choir, Dana Symphony Orchestra, YSU Jazz Ensemble, Dana Chorale, University Chorus, YSU Barbershop Chorus, Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble and the Trombone Ensemble. There will also be featured soloists, as well as local high school choirs. There will be cookies to eat and cocoa to drink at this family-fun event! Tickets are $11 for adults $6 for students from other area schools and free for those who present a YSU I.D., senior citizens and children under 12.

December 6th:

“Music at Noon” will be hosted at the Butler Institute of American Art by YSU’s Musical Theatre students. Holiday music will be sung along with other varieties at 12:15 p.m. This recital is free.

December 16th:

The “Elegant String Quartet Holiday Concert” will be located at Boardman park at 5 p.m. The concert is free and will be held in the St. James meeting house.
