The Poland Players are back with another production! This year’s musical is The Sound of Music. The Sound of Music is one of the most well known and popular musicals of our generation; it is an iconic musical with an iconic star, Julie Andrews. It is about a large family in the country of Austria during the time period of World War II. The family has seven children: Lisel (16), Friedrich (14), Lousia (13), Kurt (10), Brigitta (9), Marta (7), and Gretl (5). The head of the family is Captain Georg von Trapp a rich and retired naval captain. Since Captain von Trapp is widowed, he is always hiring new governesses, in other terms a nanny, especially because the children always play tricks on them. The female lead is Maria, their new governess. Come this spring to watch the iconic musical unfold!

This year’s musical has multiple people helping out with the show. For vocal soloists and ensemble coaching, Mr. Olesko and Mrs. Olesko are the musical aides. Mr. Vistos will be conducting the pit. Finally, Mrs. Fonagy is the overall director.

Mrs. Fonagy is very excited about the upcoming production.

Mrs. Fonagy said, “To this date, this is going to be vocally the strongest show we have ever done! The sets will also be beautifully put together!”

The cast has been selected recently, and students are optimistic about the show as well.

One of female leads Samantha Gurd said, “I am super excited for the musical! Everyone is so amazingly talented, and I know the end result is going to be fantastic!”

The musical will be performed on Friday, April 6; Saturday, April 7, and Sunday, April 8. The show will start at 7 p.m., and tickets are for sale at the door!
