Super Bowl Prediction
New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons, Sunday February 5, 6:30 PM
The New England Patriots blew out the Pittsburgh Steelers 36-17 in the AFC championship, and the Falcons dismantled the Green Bay Packers 44-21. This will be Brady and Belichick’s seventh Super Bowl appearance in the last 15 years, and Atlanta’s second appearance ever with their last appearance being in 1998 when they lost to the Denver Broncos.
The Falcons are red hot, and they’re looking for their first ever win. On the opposing side, 39-year old Tom Brady is looking for revenge after how his deflate gate scandal was handled and how Brady missed the first 4 games of the season in 2016.
Out of their seven Super Bowl appearances, the Atlanta Falcons is the highest scoring offense they have faced, which will provide the ultimate test for them this Sunday. This game will consist of two high powered offenses and two good defenses; there’s a reason that they’re here. Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, Legarrette Blount, Chris Hogan, and Martellus Bennett will look to do big damage to the Falcons defense, and I believe they’ll do just that.
Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman, Julio Jones, and Mohamed Sanu will blow the Patriots defense up. I expect the Patriots to give Julio Jones the treatment they gave Antonio Brown last week; he’ll be double covered, and other guys will have to step up.
That’s where I see Atlanta having the advantage. The steelers were without their other big threat WR Martavis Bryant, and no other receiver was able to step up, but the Falcons have Mohamad Sanu, and he’ll come up huge on Sunday. While Tom Brady and Co. are an unstoppable force, I think Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons will have their first Super Bowl win in franchise history with a win against the Patriots.
Prediction: Falcons 28, Patriots 24
