Track Season is Here
The PSHS Track Team is ready for a strong season, according to the coach and students, and will begin in early April.
Sophomore Alicia Connelly, who participates in shot and disc, said, ”I’m excited for the upcoming season and think that it will be a great season. I think our main competition for this year will be Canfield and Fitch.”
The track coach was also very optimistic about the upcoming season.
Coach Brungard said, “I think our strongest events will be long distance, and there is a lot of speed to replace the graduates.”
In addition to having a strong group of track participants, there are state qualifiers returning to the team this year as well.
Coach Brungard said, “There are 3 state qualifiers returning, Maggie Sebest, Colten McFadden, and Rocco Almasy.”
The first track meet is on April 4, 5:00pm at Fitch with Lakeview. The different events in track include:
Running
- Running events include:
- Sprints (100m, 200m, 400m),
- Middle distance (800m, 1500m)
- Long distance (3000m Steeplechase, 5000m, 10,000m)
- Hurdles (110m/100m, 400m)
- Relays (4x100m,4x200m, 4x400m)
Jumping
- Jumping events include:
- Long Jump
- High Jump
Throwing
- Throwing events include:
- Discus
- Shot Put
