Donation Opportunities

It is almost time for Christmas: a time of giving and, for some, receiving. Unfortunately, not everyone is as blessed as a lot of us. Here is a list of local places to donate if you are looking to make someone else’s Christmas.

 

Making Kids Count

A nonprofit organization that reaches out to children and families who need a helping hand. They are always in need for diapers, toiletries, school supplies, baby necessities and new toys. You can also donate directly to them or volunteer. More information can be found on their website.

Beatitude House

Established in 1988, this nonprofit corporation create homes, foster families, and provides educational opportunities for women and children “bound in the cycle of poverty and homelessness”. Their greatest current needs include gift cards, cleaning products, trash bags and more. You can become a volunteer or donate monetary.

United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley

They address specific community-wide problems by holding community conversations across the Mahoning Valley to identify needs. Their main focuses are early childhood education and emergency services. You can donate your time to the foundation or any amount of money on their website.

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley

The organization helps build or improve a place people can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Monetary donations are always welcome to help support Habitat homeowners. Or you can donate your time by becoming a volunteer.

Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley

They help people from all walks of life and all social and economic statuses at their shelters. They offer four full programs to help their clients: Transitional Program, Job-tracking/Work program, Discipleship Academy and Alumni Program.
