Boys Basketball vs. Lakeview
The Poland Boys Basketball Team take on the Lakeview Bulldogs in their second tournament match up of the season. Their first one was a dominant win against Ursuline. The Bulldogs of Poland have beaten the Lakeview Bulldogs the last two times they played them and are looking to make it three. I caught up with senior Brandon Barringer and asked him about this Lakeview team.
“Lakeview is just like us, in a way, they have a good coach and even though we won the last two against them, in tournament, play records don’t matter. Each person on every team is going 100%, so we just have to go to 200%,” said Barringer.
The battle of the Bulldogs will be played at Boardman High School at 7 o’clock on Wednesday the seventh. Boardman is where all the local tournament games our played, and Poland’s boys are excited to be back.
“Our plan was to make it back to the district game again; I am very excited, but I am also curious to see how we will perform. So it feels good to be back in Boardman,” said Barringer when asked about his thoughts on tournament time.
I lastly asked the two sport athlete, Barringer, about how it feels to play with this group of guys in this time of the year. It is safe to say that he has high hopes and goals for this victorious Poland Bulldog Basketball Team.
Barringer said, “I am thinking about my teammates a lot because of how it is the last time I am playing a sport in high school. And I am very happy because we only had one loss, but what is special to me is that we went undefeated on our home court. Now that it is coming down to win or go home, and playing with the kids I love the most, I plan on winning the district game, but taking it game by game and hopefully get to Canton.”
