Swim Dogs Break the Record

On January 5 at a YSU Invitational Meet, the PSHS boys swim team relay broke the school record for the 200 yard freestyle relay. The relay consisted of Freshman Van Blasko, Junior Jason Wilson, Senior Mark Lanterman and Senior Nico Lattanzio.

The boys said that the season has been going great and that everyone has been working very hard to lower their times.

Nico Lattanzio said, “It feels good and to do it on a relay is even better because it boosts everyone else, and it is a huge motivator for the team.”

The boys all enjoy swimming together and really work hard to push each other to get better.

Van Blasko said, “It’s fun being on the team, and there is a lot of good people to be able to swim with for my first year.”

The relay holds Freshman Van Blasko on it, and the boys were happy for him breaking the record at such an early age.

Jason Wilson said, ‘It felt great to break the record. That’s a good team record that hasn’t been broken for a while. It was awesome to see Van as a freshman get his first record at such an early stage in his high school career.”

Mark Lanterman also said, “I was pretty happy especially because we weren’t expecting to break it.”

The boys relay hopes to continue to improve as they go on with the season and lower their times at Districts. They would also like to lower their record time even more. Districts is on February 15 at Cleveland State University. Be sure to cheer on the Poland Swim Team.
