Victory Church will be sponsoring “See You at the Pole” which will be taking place at Poland Seminary High School, this Wednesday, September 27 at 6:45 am. Students are welcomed to gather around the main office flagpole to pray for their fellow peers, the faculty, and the school year as a whole. This time between students is open for anyone attending Poland Schools to participate. However, it isn’t limited to the students: staff members, parents, and younger siblings will be embraced with open arms.
“See You at the Pole” is a nationwide event, every fourth Wednesday of September, where students come together for a time of prayer. The annual gathering started in 1990 in a school down in Texas and has spread throughout the country. The event is student-led and is more of a relaxed time between all who attend.
Lexi Diaz, a former Poland student, is a student leader of Victory Church in Lowellville who has taken an initiative to spur the revival of See You at the Pole at multiple schools. Hubbard, Austintown, Youngstown City Schools, and select PA schools are just a few of the districts that Victory Church is working with.
Another representative of Victory Church, Josh Bader, Poland Alum, who is heavily involved with the school, said that he remembers himself in middle school going to this same event. He recalls passing out donuts and wristbands to people getting off the bus and all the people holding hands in prayer around the pole. Lexi Diaz had helped with the same event last year, but only one student attended. She expressed how she was proud of her attendee but also disappointed that the other students didn’t take the time to just pray for their peers.
This year, the student leaders are very excited and hopeful for the event and want to see you at the pole!
