The Poland Boys’ Golf Team has great expectations heading into Districts this year. They had great success in the NE8 Conference championship, winning the title with a 320-point score. They also placed second place in Sectionals, which is very good for our boys’ team. Freshman golf player Angelo Rinaldi had some details to share about the golf team.
“I’m pretty happy with how we did in Sectionals. We had to take one higher score, but we could definitely lower it and make it better next time,” said Rinaldi.
Sectionals was a very good step towards Districts; placing second for any states’ sectionals is very hard to do, but the Poland Team made it look easy. Poland’s expectations going into Districts are very high, but one aspect that is higher than those District expectations is Poland’s State expectations.
Rinaldi said, “I think the team can make it to State easily; I looked at the scores from all the other sectional qualifiers, and I definitely think we can make it to States.”
Rinaldi previously tied the school record shooting 31 on 9 holes back in August. This shows a very promising outcome for Districts, and possibly even State for the golf team, and Ranaldi specifically. Also, the future of the Poland Golf Team is very promising. They will be losing some crucial players, but also gaining some new players.
“We got a couple good kids coming in; I think it will be pretty good,” quoted Ranaldi.
We wish the Poland Boys’ Golf Team great success during their time at Districts, and we hope that they can make it to States.
