After completing the majority of the season, the Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team harness two critical weeks left. The week of October 4, 2023, the Bulldogs won the conference title; this win makes three years in a row. For the past couple of years, the girls have built an unstoppable program, and in making it far into the playoffs and winning conference titles, the girls are beyond excited to continue this streak.
“I feel a high sense of achievement. We collectively worked hard, and picked up our soccer program and made our team better,” said Junior Sophia Generalovich.
“It feels good winning the conference; it shows how our hard work in the off-season has paid off,” said Senior Ariel Grischow.
Not only did the girls have the important week of winning the conference; they had the week of 10/9/2023, which was Senior Night. This is always an important day for all teams across the country, as it states that this is the last year an athlete will be able to play with their senior class. Therefore, all forms of emotions will be catalyzed within the girls when they walk down the pitch.
“It’s sad because I have been playing with these girls for my whole life. I got to see my sister go through this experience which makes it sad for me. But I am excited to see what the future holds for me in college” said Grischow.
As the Girls’ Bulldogs have one more regular season game left on 10/11/2023, they will then begin their playoffs games afterwards; this is when everything matters, being that there is no margin for error. The girls have been working harder and harder each day at practice to continue the streak of making it far into the playoffs, and they all, most importantly, carry one goal: to win it all this year.
“At this point in our season, I feel that we have worked through our basic and technical errors, and we are now just working on perfecting ourselves, so we can be the best team we want to be in the playoffs,” said Generalovich.
The season is coming to an end, but the Varsity Girls’ Soccer team is fighting for the playoffs to continue into the next few months. Two of the aforementioned girls want to share thoughts; Sophia wanted to speak on the topic of continuing their great program next year.
“Yes, I hope to continue what we have, and I hope to be a great senior leader and help lead the team to a great season and a championship with the other seniors,” said Generalovich.
On the other hand, senior Ariel Grischow wants to leave her final goodbye to the program she has been a part of while attending Poland Sem.
“One thing I would like to say is to go to practice everyday trying to get better and to create good team chemistry. But mostly, I will miss you guys and this program, and thank you for a great four years,” said Grischow.
Good luck to the Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team as they officially start off the playoffs!
