On Saturday, October 21, the Poland Forest Foundation is set to hold their first annual dinner. This dinner is to be held at Reserve Run Golf Course’s restaurant, Another Round Bar & Grill. The purpose of this dinner is to raise funds for the forest, as well as acknowledge and award those that have generously supported the foundation. Although the deadline to attend the event has passed, donations may still be made to the foundation.
The foundation’s treasurer, Jim Collier, expresses that the forest depends on the community in many ways. Collier explains that this is done “not only by enjoying it, but also by funding it.”
Poland Municipal Forest is home to the town’s famous “blue bells” that bloom every spring, as well as much other wildlife and nature. Many bridges and some other structures have been built there, and the foundation’s job is to raise the funds to support these projects, as well as support overall maintenance of the forest. A more recently completed project was the rebuilding of Mauthe Bridge, a notable structure in the forest.
Collier, along with Dave Watts, president of the foundation, and Alan Wanger, Vice President, work to spread the word about the foundation around Poland. This dinner was planned to recognize those who have put in work to the forest, and also those that have generously donated. As well as this, the goal is to inform the community of this foundation, with hopes that the foundation will receive continued support. The Poland Forest Foundation has a website always open and welcoming of donations.
