Alumni Dennis McCully, former editor-in-chief of the PSHS Seminarian, is transforming his film-making hobby into a career. Attending Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dennis is double majoring in Business and Digital Media.
Many years prior to college. movies and film production interested. Various examples came to mind when he described when his interest in film-making first sparked.
“It was always present. Whether it be choreographed lightsaber fights in the yard with my brother, rewriting movie plot lines I didn’t like, or making up stories around a campfire, storytelling was always a part of my childhood in some way shape or form,” said McCully.
McCully earned an ROTC scholarship to fund his college, and chose New Orleans, a film production-heavy city, to pursue a career in production after graduating. Tulane offers many opportunities to get involved.
“Film festivals are great for exposure; additionally, I want to build my network throughout college and by PA work on movie sets,” said McCully.
As for the ROTC program, Dennis is participating in a Military Science Class, along with personal training and Army Exhibitions on some weekends. Upon graduating from Tulane, Dennis will go through a basic training camp and then be stationed at a military base.
After all is said and done, Dennis expects to be “commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army” and the goal is to “set [himself] up for employment in the film industry afterward.”
