When it comes to stellar athletes Poland has always had a deep pool of talent to choose from. This month we have gotten the honor to bestow athlete of the month to Freshman Angelo Rinaldi
Rinaldi is a freshman here at Poland Seminary High School, and he had exceeded the bar for freshman achievements, by qualifying for the OHSAA State tournament. We spoke to him on how he is feeling about his season, and he had this to say.
“I feel good, qualifying is always a great feeling; the team was very supportive this year, and they all pushed each other to become the best everyone can be.”
This is an impressive boast from the young player, Rinaldi on top of qualifying for states set a school record for a round of 9 holes, shooting an impressive 31. To put that in perspective for non-golf watchers, Tiger Woods best he has ever shot on 9 holes was a 28. That is only 3 higher than Tiger Woods.
We asked who he thinks pushes him the most to be the best athlete he can be.
Rinaldi said, “Probably my dad, or my coach. [My Coach] tells me to do good things, and I listen.”
Rinaldi ended up placing 11th at the state tournament, a great showing for the young player. He continues to amaze everyone at Poland with his athletic ability and his humble personality, displaying all the values that the Seminarian looks for when crowning athlete of the month.
