The holiday season approached quickly and that means the season of giving. During Christmas time, the most important thing to most of the general population is preparing for the big day while buying family and friends gifts. We also value acts of kindness during this time. Small acts of kindness can go a long way during this holiday season, whether it’s volunteer work or a small donation. Here are some good ways to give back in our area this year.
United Way: United Way is a non-profit organization that helps strengthen the community and the Mahoning Valley. There are multiple volunteer opportunities ranging from help at Youngstown Community Schools to volunteering at a food pantry. This great organization goes a long way for the community. The Beatitude House:

Second Harvest is located in Youngstown and can always use volunteers to help out in providing food for the community. They provide food for three separate counties in our area. You can donate food or sign up for the volunteer form here. If you are not able to volunteer, simply donating some spare non-perishable food items can go a long way to help a family in need this year.
Mahoning County Society Of St. Vincent DePaul:
This food bank located in downtown Youngstown thrives off of volunteers and provides food for people in need. They provide meals 5 days a week and breakfast on Saturday mornings. They serve more than 1,500 meals a week. Sign up for the volunteer form here.
