As the winter sports season arrives, so do the athletes; It’s December, and that means a new athlete of the month! This month, it is the sophomore point guard Carmine Tukalo.
Tukalo is the starting point guard on the Varsity Basketball team this year, which is very impressive for a sophomore. This is what Carmine had to say about it…
“Very excited for this great opportunity. I appreciate all the help from coaches and teammates to get me to this point. I know I can help us win and my boys always got my back,” quoted Tukalo.
Tukalo has been putting in a lot of work this season; he scored 19 points against Boardman, which has been Poland’s only loss. Poland has gone 2-1 so far this season, which is very good. Poland only scored 39 points the entire game, and with Carmine scoring about 49% of those points, such is very impressive.
Tukalo’s goal this year was to show people that he was capable of being a sophomore guard, and obviously, he has shown everyone this.
“I have a lot to prove this year as a sophomore guard. I know what I’m capable of and I’m gonna do it. Just gonna be a leader out there for us and run a smooth offense for our team as our point guard. I’m not just here to play, I’m out here to show people who I am and win,” said Tukalo.
Tukalo’s season is just getting started, and he has already proved to us all how capable he is in playing incredibly. We will just have to see what his future holds.
Tukalo was excited that he was chosen as the athlete of the month. Tukalo was very proud of his accomplishment; “It is awesome to be named athlete of the month. It is great to see all my hard work paying off, and this is just a great honor. I’m thankful for everyone that has helped me throughout this journey, and I’m only getting started.”
Carmine is young and still has many talents to show and prove, so good luck to him, and good luck to the Poland Basketball Team for the rest of their winter season!
