JD and I are back for the Athlete of the Month! This January has been a big month for Bulldog Athletics, and all have had some tough competition; this month’s athlete is senior wrestler Lucas Oslin!
Oslin has worked very hard for wrestling, and he definitely deserves this role. Oslin spends hours working out, going to wrestling camps and clubs, and has sacrificed many valuable hours for the sport he loves. This is the perfect example of an athlete, and especially a Poland athlete.
Oslin has found a lot of recent success in his wrestling career. He had to go through a lot to get to where he is now.
“I didn’t take any time off the sport all year and constantly looked for new tournaments with higher competition to force myself to get to the next level,” quoted Oslin.
Oslin believes that himself and others on the wrestling team can find success in the Playoffs, and even State! This year’s team, as well, is very promising, so we can definitely look out for some wrestlers going to State this year.
“The Ohio State Championship is individual for wrestling, not like other sports, and everyone is going to have some hard matches in their weight class for Sectionals, Districts, and I think a few of us on the team who are more advanced can qualify and place at state… My goal is to be high on the podium,” said Oslin.
JD asked Osline what he thought about being Athlete of the Month, and this is what he had to say: “I know what I put in, and I know where I belong.”
Being self explanatory, he does deserve where he is now due to all the work and time he puts into wrestling.
Oslin also mentioned some people that inspire him in wrestling and other fighting sports.
“I look up to a lot of top combat athletes like Khabib Nurmagomedov, and listen to their words of advice on how to reach the top level of my own game.”
Thanks to Lucas Oslin for interviewing with us, and congratulations on your success in wrestling. See you next month, Bulldogs!
