Poland Seminary Student Council organized a three versus three basketball tournament that any students and staff members could participate in.
Student Council Representative, Oliver McCully, was the one to come up with the idea of arranging a basketball tournament to raise money for PSHS Student Council, saying that he did it because he,”wanted to give back to the community and enhance the bond between Poland students and the Poland Township Police.”
Eleven teams participated in the tournament with one team even being a group of Poland Township Police Officers.
Five games were played in the first round of the tournament with one team getting a bye.
In the first game, Team 3 was able to take out the highly anticipated All Net who were expected to make it all the way. Marvelous Men fell to Burger in a very close game. Swish was able to make quick work of The Triple Threats. Denver Drip Squad who is also a highly ranked team was able to take down the Cops. To close out the first round of the tournament UMFW was able to get past The Saints. The Green Bay Gators had the bye in the first round.
In the second round of the tournament Swish was able to overpower Burger in a very close game. The Green Bay Gators took down UMFW. Team 3 and The Denver Drip Squad both got byes for the second round.
In the third round of the tournament Team 3 was again able to make quick work of their opponent Swish. The Denver Drip Squad was able to easily get past the Green Bay Gators.
In the championship, It was The Denver Drip Squad who had Jacob Hayes, Oliver McCully, and Colin McBride and Team 3 who had Jas Stefancin, Jeffery Kollar, and Yianni Hazimahalis. It was a very close game ending at the buzzer, but in the end, The Denver Drip Squad were able to take down Team 3 in a 8-6 battle.
