Over the weekend of March 23rd, the Poland Band program took a trip down to the capitol of Tennessee. They departed the school on Friday morning for Nashville.
Upon their arrival in the evening, the band went straight for dinner at famous country singer Blake Shelton’s restaurant: Ole Red. Throughout the weekend, the band experienced famous BBQ chicken and pork, along with other true country food favorites.
Saturday, the band departed for a professional clinic at Belmont University with the Director of Bands, Dr. Barry Kraus. From there, the band traveled towards the Assembly Food Hall for lunch and then enjoyed an interactive tour at the National Museum of African American Music. At the end of the night, the band enjoyed dinner at the Opry Backstage Grille and then experienced the longest running radio show in American broadcasting history at the Grand Ole Opry itself, with a multitude of guest artists including Big & Rich!
For their last full day on Sunday, the band had the chance to tour the famous RCA Studio B (also known as the “Home of a Thousand Hits”) and then record some of their prepared repertoire including the Poland Alma Mater. Afterwards, the band headed towards the Country Music Hall of Fame where they performed for guests and experienced the hall itself. After the hall and lunch, the band went on a guided city tour of Downtown Nashville to experience and learn the history of many important landmarks around them.
