After several years of being unable to attend, the 6th grade Poland students will be staying at Camp Fitch from May 15th to May 17th. Camp Fitch was such an important part of a countless number of students’ lives, and for the first time since before COVID-19, they will be returning. Camp Fitch is a long acclaimed tradition in Poland’s history, and goes without saying the importance it has on children’s development. Several of our very own students will be student counselors in charge of groups of children at camp. Candidates underwent a rigorous application process, involving writing a compelling essay and intensive interview process with several middle school teachers.
Becoming a student counselor is a prestigious honor, and we’re lucky to have several student counselors in our own Seminarian news crew. Josh Macejko, Jas Stefancin, Oliver McCully, Lucienne Hopps, Carmela Guzman, and Lucy Harrell were all chosen to be 6 of the 10 counselors. When asked about what to expect of their Camp Fitch experience, Stefancin had this to say, “I’m really excited to just be able to be a role model for this young children and hopefully make it a amazing experience for everyone”
Poland’s middle school students will be able to make memories that will last a lifetime. Camp Fitch was a very formative time for many, including those who we had the opportunity to speak to. Students will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as archery, canoeing, crafts, as well as numerous other activities. Students will also have the opportunity to make new connections with classmates and counselors. Camp Fitch is a very beneficial experience for students of all kinds.
From the Seminarian Crew, we want to wish luck to all the students and student-counselors participating in Camp Fitch later in May. Have a great time and make some memories!
