Poland Seminary High School welcomed a new student into the graduating class on April 25, 2024. The Poland Seminary High School Science Department recently purchased an interactive anatomy statue to enhance education for students.

This 5’10” 160 pound figure provides a detailed 3D example for students to utilize. It includes a detachable arm and leg with removable muscles. A fully detachable organ system including a two part heart, two lungs, liver with a gallbladder, kidneys, a four part intestine set, and both male and female reproductive organ systems.

The structure also includes a scannable QR code on its base. This code opens up a whole new world of education allowing students to view 3D models of all the parts and organs on a tablet or computer. Science classes were also donated four tablets earlier this year that give a more hands on approach.

Dr. Daniel Ebert and his wife are the generous donors of the money used for the structure. The donation was meant to go towards enhancing science education at Poland Local Schools, and it is doing that exactly. They had four sons who attended Poland. The anatomy and biology students are extremely grateful for the generosity towards their academics

“Huey” received his own diploma and some Poland athletics gear to cover themselves up. An event to honor and recognize the structure was held in the high school library during 4th period. In attendance was Superintendent Hockenberry, several members of the board, the high school principals, Mrs. Queen the anatomy teacher, and her 3rd period anatomy class.

Hugh Mann is expected to stay in the district for the next 40 years + to provide the highest level of science education we can provide. Not only is he hoped to be used in science but other classes like languages and health education. Students are beyond grateful for the donation and cannot wait to put it to use!
