Eastern Gateway Community College, after a long 55 years, will be closing for good after this spring semester. Poland’s CCP courses that were offered through EGCC for were Advanced US Government, Intro to Criminal Justice, Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, and English Composition/Introduction to Literature. Some of the courses have been offered for almost 10 years at Poland as CCP offerings.
Although EGCC is closing, Youngstown State University’s CCP classes will remain in Poland. The classes taken through YSU are Advanced Chemistry, AP Biology, Physical Geology, Advanced Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.
Due to the recent news of EGCC closing, Poland is still in the process of adjusting classes.
For 2024-2025, Kent State University will be offered for English courses including Major Modern Writers: 20th Century to Present and English Composition I (Writing I) for seniors.
Also, for next school year, Akron University is working with the current government classes, and YSU is working with the science department courses that used to be offered through EGCC.
If you are a student interested in taking CCP courses this upcoming fall semester, there are numerous forms, applications, and processes that must be completed in order to participate in the CCP program.
Announcements are made and emails are sent early in the school year to ensure students are aware of steps they need to take.
Be sure to check with your counselors that you are signed up for your desired classes in the 2024-2025 school year!
