The Lady Bulldogs have played seven games this season and are currently on a three game win streak. Last month they defeated Hubbard, Springfield, and Girard in dominating fashion. In their game against Hubbard, they won by a whopping 34 points. These wins and others have been a crucial part of the team securing first place in the NE8 standings.
The team’s rebounding has improved drastically in the last few weeks, which has allowed them to prevent putbacks for the other team, and increase the amount of putbacks they are having per game. This slight change has seen much improvement in the team’s overall play, and the momentum that has come with it will continue to push the team as the year progresses.
The team has three seniors this year: Sophia Generalovich, Lucy Harrell, and Kate Harrell. With the experience, extraordinary offense, and leadership of these three athletes, the team should exceed all expectations.
Another athlete I would like to mention is Junior, Elliana Thompson. Thompson took a big step last year when she had to fill in for her injured teammate Mary Brant, and this year she has used her experience to become one of the team’s leading scorers. Elliana serves as a pillar for this team and is expected to do great things in the future.
These four are supported by a roster of multi-talented athletes who will all show sparks this year in leading the team to new heights.
I spoke to head coach Nick Blanch earlier this week, and he was very optimistic about the team’s future. This is what he had to say:
“This season, I’m excited to see the varsity girls’ basketball team showcase their talent, teamwork, and perseverance. With a strong group of athletes and a commitment to growth, I’m confident they’ll rise to every challenge and represent our school with pride. It’s going to be an exciting journey.”
Show up to support the Lady Bulldogs as they look to continue their success this season!
