As spring starts to rise and builds up with new sports the swimming season has officially ended, and now, we take our time to look at the Athlete Of The Month, Sean Zura! Sean and his other fellow teammates have been breaking records left and right and are going to continue to build this next season. Zura said he got to state because of his hard work and dedication in practice from week to week but also because of the motivation he gets from Coach Hritz.
Sean’s time for the 50 yard freestyle was 22.07 which is the second best time here at Poland.
His expectations for next year are pretty high as Zura stated, “My expectations for next year are to make it to state individually again. The school record for the 50 free is 21.74, which I expect to break.”
Having high expectations and pairing that with hard work can help him reach these goals to have a state record.
Zura is expected to break the previous 50 freestyle school record next year. Next season will be crucial on the new seniors and the upcoming swimmers. So expect a lot from the swim and dive team next year.
Zura’s work ethic is through the roof as he swims all year around not just only for the school. This helps him overtime with the school year swimming because he is always practicing on his skills even when he is not at practice and is on pace to break the school record here at poland.
Zura also thanked his teammates by saying, “My teammates were very supportive to me from the first practice to the very last meet. They got to go to the States in a relay with me as a result of their hard work.” This is showing how supportive and hardworking his teammates also were, not only him.
We wish Sean the best of luck next swim season and hope for him to break the school record here in Poland. Also to all the new sports that are starting in the spring.
