On May 7, some of the PSHS students involved in art classes came together to display their creative work at the annual PSHS Art Show. The art students put in a lot of time and effort when preparing for this art show. I wanted to take a closer look at some of the individuals involved in this year’s art show.
First, I talked to sophomore Morgan Brammer who said she “…had 5 pieces of art submitted into the art show.”
Brammer said that her favorite part of the art show was “…either the art installation because it included everyone in the art program and it had such a good turn out” or “…art work during my study halls or helping the judges navigate through the show. I always have a blast helping out behind the scenes and getting to see the final product.”
She also said, “ I’m so proud of everyone who was involved in it since we all worked so hard on it…”
I talked to Brammer about this year’s turn out compared to other years, and she said, “I believe the art show had a great turn out, everyone’s art was a masterpiece, and it was so fun to look at everyone’s styles, creativity, and progress through the year.”
For our final discussion, I asked her how long she has been involved, and she said, “I have been a part of the art show for four years now and more years to come. I have loved every second of it being involved; however, I started to get more involved last year and plan to be just as involved during the incoming years.”
Next, I talked to sophomore Bella DiPasqua.
DiPasqua said, “I had five pieces of art entered into the show…”
DiPasqua also added that “…three of mine placed; my collage won first place.”
She said her favorite part of the art show was “…being able to walk around and look at what all the other classes got to work on; each level got different projects, so it was interesting to see what those were.”
I asked her how she thought this year’s turnout was compared to past years, and she said, “I would say the art show had a very good turn out, and it always does. Family members and friends always enjoy seeing the art which makes me happy because I know how hard each individual worked to get their pieces entered.”
To wrap up our discussion, I asked her how many years she’s been involved in displaying art at this art show, and she said, “This year was my first year entering pieces into the art show. I always enjoyed art, but this year I really decided to explore my interest in it, and I am so glad I did.”
Finally, I wrapped up my discussions by talking to Junior Cameron Burns, and she said, “I had 6 pieces of art entered into the art show this year. Two of my pieces placed fourth in their categories; my cupcake still life, and my scratch art.”
Burns said her favorite part of the art show was “… Gavin Mathew’s senior display.”
She also added that “Gavin is a close friend of mine, and I have always admired his art work. His two pieces that had hands in them were some of my favorite paintings at the art show this year.”
Burns believes, “The art show had a pretty good turnout from what I had seen this year.”
I wrapped up our discussions by talking to Burns about how long she has been in the art show, and she said, “ The last time I attended the art show, I think was my 8th grade year when I took Intro to art.”
Overall, the PSHS 2025 Annual Art Show was a huge success, and the community enjoyed looking at the displays of art created by Poland Seminary High School students. These students put a lot of time and effort into their pieces of art, and the hard work they put in sure paid off.
