Poland Boys Baseball wraps up a successful regular season and plans to continue into playoffs. The team finished with a 17-4 regular season record with also a 9-3 conference record finishing second in the conference. The regular season has recently just wrapped up as the last game was on May 19th against South Range they ended up winning that game 4-3.
Despite the 4 losses the team has, they have really come together to put another great season in the books. Poland is hosting Chippewa on Wednesday, May 28 as their first playoff game of the year. Chippewa’s record is 20-7 with a 9-5 conference record finishing third in their conference. Although Poland has been on a run, they do not want to go out like they did last year against Ursuline. Poland unfortunately lost in the first round of the playoffs last year after coming off a really impressive regular season.
When asked about how far can this team really go in the playoffs, Junior Pitcher Stevie Kopkash said, “I think that this team can go very deep into the playoff and possibly even make it to state as our talent level is through the roof, and we are a very closely knit team, so I feel that we can make a deep run.”
Kpkash has very high expectations for his team and thinks they have a real shot at the state title this year. Hopefully, they can fulfill these expectations and go on to have a historical season.
