Out With The Old.. In With The New

A lot has happened in the year of 2016. Some highs and lows but many things impacted us. Here are some highlights on the year so far.



  • The 2016 Summer Olympics were held in Rio this summer and the United States took the win.
  • The Cleveland Cavs became the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals to and win, as well as ending a 52 year drought of Cleveland sports titles.
  • The Cleveland Indians made it to the World Series facing the Chicago Cubs. Cubs pulled out the win making them the New World series champs.
  • In Cincinnati, a gorilla was shot and killed when a baby boy fell into the enclosure and was harming the child. Harambe soon became a famous name and even received 5,000 votes in the presidential election.
  • Most recent uprising was when Donald J. Trump won the presidential election vs Hillary Clinton.


  • “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” broke the North American box office record.
  • The long awaited sequel to Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, finally premiered in June of 2016.


  • These trends include the bottle flipping challenge. It has become an international trend when someone posted a video of themselves flipping a bottle and landing it.
  • The running man challenge became legendary trend that was made popular by the University of Maryland basketball players, Jaylen Brantley and Jared Nickens. Everyone started doing it and posting a video.
  • Kylie Jenner launched her lip kits and other makeup kits which have become widely popular with teenagers.
  •   Apple released Iphone 7 and 7 plus removing the headphone spot and improving the camera tremendously.
  • The mannequin challenge became a huge trend in October through November. People froze in a spot while a person video tapes the scene.
  • A kid name Daniel was snap-chatted while wearing white vans. The video went viral and they made a guest appearance on Ellen. Everyone started copying the sayings.


  • For the first time in history a singer-songwriter Bob Dylan won the Nobel Peace Prize for Literature on October 13th of 2016
  • Top female artist of 2016: Beyonce
  • Top male artist of 2016: Drake
  • Top Country: Forever Country FT tons of great country artist
  • Top Pop: Closer by the Chainsmokers


  • This year power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated and are continuously fighting for custody of their 6 children.
  • Calvin Harris  and Taylor Swift ended their relationship in the beginning of June this year.
  • Rob Kardashian posted several videos on Snapchat showing his empty rooms in the home he shared with Blac Chyna. The rooms were furnished for Dream. Rob Kardashian claimed she left him and took the children and their belongings with her.
  • One direction officially split and all signed to a new record label. It was sad year for the directioners.
  • Adele announced that she will not be touring or producing music for 10 years due to her wanting to be around family and friends.
  • Bachelorette star Jojo, found love this year with NFL superstars brother Jordan Rodgers and the next Bachelor was named, Nick Vaill.
