March Madness is the famous NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Every year, millions of fans create their own brackets to predict the winners of every game and the overall winner of the whole tournament. Some people do it just for fun, while others bet money on the tournament. I sat down with 10 Poland Seminary High School students to get their input on their March Madness brackets for 2018.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Mike Masucci, Grade 12: I made four brackets.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Masucci: I thought Virginia was going to win it all [lost in first round to UMBC]. One of my bracket’s is in third place with Villanova winning. The rest of my brackets are awful but I can’t win.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Masucci: I think Duke is going to win it all because they have too much fire power and are playing really good.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Sarah Boccieri, Grade 12: I made one bracket with the softball team.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Boccieri: I thought Virginia would win it all, and my bracket is doing terrible.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Boccieri: I think Duke will win it all now because that is what my boyfriend told me.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Juliana Blangaro, Grade 12: I made one bracket.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Blangaro: I thought Virginia was going to win it all. My bracket is not doing too bad.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Blangaro: I think Villanova is going to win it all because they’re #1.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Cole Lavorini, Grade 12: I made one bracket.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Lavorini: I had Virginia winning it all originally. My bracket now, is probably one of the worst brackets I have ever done.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Lavorini: I think Villanova is going to win it all now because they have a solid defense.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Amelia D’Angelo, Grade 12: I made two brackets.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

D’Angelo: I thought Michigan State was going to win it all, but now both of my brackets are completely busted.

Sem:  Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

D’Angelo: I think Kentucky is going to win it all now because they’re my team.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Jordyn Olsen, Grade 9: I made one bracket.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Olsen: I have Duke winning it all, so my bracket is still looking pretty amazing.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Olsen: I think Duke will win it all because they are still in it.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Owen Hernon, Grade 11: I made five brackets.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Hernon: I had Virginia winning in three of my brackets, so they’re not doing too good.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Hernon: I think Duke is going to win it all because they are the only good team left.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Drew Davies, Grade 12: I made two brackets.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Davies: I had Virginia winning in one and Purdue winning in the toher. Purdue is still in it so that’s good, but everything else is bad.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Davies: It’s anyone’s game now because all of the top seeds are getting knocked out.

Mark Lanterman, Grade 11: I made two brackets.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Lanterman: I had Xavier winning in one and Villanova winning in the other one.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Lanterman: I think Loyola is going to win it all now because they’re good.

Sem: How many brackets did you make?

Anthony Decola, Grade 11: I made two brackets.

Sem: Who did you originally think was going to win it all, and how are your brackets looking so far?

Decola: I thought Villanova was going to win it all, so one bracket is still good, but the other isn’t.

Sem: Based on the tournament games so far, who do you think is going to win it all now and why?

Decola: I think Villanova is going to win it all because they blow everyone out.
