Halloween Movies & Podcasts

Halloween is just around the corner, and new movies and podcasts are being released for the season, but how will you know what to watch or listen to?

Many know the classic Halloween movies, like Ghostbusters, Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc, but if you would be interested in some new content to listen to and watch, you may be looking for some reviews.

A lot of movies and podcasts are released daily, and it is often hard to narrow down good stories. After doing thorough research, this article narrows down some of the top picks for the 2021 Halloween season.

The following movie features and descriptions come from USA Today, and here are the ones I feel are the most interesting and worthwhile.

V/H/S/94 is streaming on Shudder now;  it is a 90’s themed horror about a “crew investigating the urban legend of a sewer-dwelling Ratman; a right-wing militia planning to use a supernatural creature to invade a federal building. . .  and a mad scientist turning humans into machines.”

Another rather “adult” movie is Halloween Kills, which is in theaters October 15th and on Peacock. It is stated to be a “bloody follow-up to 2018’s hit “Halloween. . .” Michael Myers on the loose in Haddonfield after escaping a fiery trap set by Laurie Strode. . . neighbors form a vigilante mob to end Masked Boogeyman’s reign of terror once and for all.”

Hypnotic is also being released on Netflix, and will be streaming October 27th. It’s description is, “Kate Siegel plays a woman seeking to improve herself. . . she undergoes some very intense sessions and quickly begins to realize that things are getting much, much worse instead of better.”

However, if you’re not the biggest movie watcher, podcasts are a great alternative if you like listening to stories instead.

A podcast called Weekly Spooky-Scary Stories for Halloween, was released around a week ago, and it shares “Halloween scary stories from year round that are chilling,” Player FM states.

Another podcast posted on Player FM, Fright Central, was released around the same time, “covering all things horror. Movies, TV Shows, Haunts, Events and more. . .”

Whether you prefer movies or podcasts, both options have much variety and diversity over their topics ensuring at least one you would like for this Halloween Season.
