There’s several ways to get into the Christmas spirit other than decorating your home. As enjoyable as it is hanging ornaments on the tree, here are a few extra activities to jump start your holiday season over the long break.

  1. Make a gingerbread house. Many if not all grocery stores carry gingerbread house building kits during the holiday season. This is a great way to spend time with family and friends, plus you can be as creative as possible. The best part, it is all edible.
  2. Visit local festivals. Need a last minute Christmas gift? Try to look for a holiday festival in your area. Many of these places carry a variety of things for a great price and you get to enjoy the scenery while you shop.
  3. Create ornaments. This is a fun activity to do with your little ones. Materials can be as simple as construction paper, popsicle sticks, ribbon, and homemade or store bought gingerbread men.
  4. Make an advent calendar. An inexpensive way to make everyday feel like Christmas morning. These are perfect small surprises of all age groups.
  5. Roast marshmallows or chestnuts. Need a fun late night snack? If you have a fireplace this is a great way to get the family in one place. Play Christmas music during it!

Happy Holidays!
