PSHS Charity Cornhole Tournament

PSHS+Charity+Cornhole+Tournament

With the warm Spring weather finally here, Poland Seminary hosted its first charity cornhole tournament after school on Friday, May 12, 2023. This event was organized by the PSHS Student Council and took about an hour and a half to two hours at the Dave Pavlansky Field, starting at 3 PM.

Teams of two paid an entrance fee to play, which went towards a donation to the New Lease on Life Animal Rescue in Struthers. Fifteen teams entered to win the gift card prize.

For the 2022-2023 school year, Student Council is led by Mrs. Lunevich, Senior Class President Andrew Slaven, Junior President Nadia Zarbaugh, Sophomore President Kate Harrell, and Freshman President Douglas Stough.

One representative, Senior Alyssa Glaros, shares the idea came about from “a collective vote between all four grades to pick an idea that was both new and interesting.”

Another senior representative, Jacob Thompson, expressed hopes that the student council will continue this event as a tradition in the years to come.

Working with local businesses is an incredibly great way to boost awareness and help those around us, especially animals. Student Council is also involved in other beneficial activities for the community such as the annual food drive, painting blue paws on local Poland driveways, and helping to clean up trash on Clingan Road.

As the end of the school year closes in, students continue to hold high school spirit and still attend various events, between charity and sports.
