Teresa Quinones: Tennis
- What are three reasons why you like being on your sports team?
I love the sport tennis; I am a very competitive person, and I like to be supportive among the other players.
- How does your team make practice more fun?
My team makes practice more fun by competing with each other and playing games that help us with the fundamentals of tennis.
- Do you have a diet during the season?
Yes, during the season, I do not eat as much because I need to keep my weight down to move faster.
- How do you feel playing tennis emotionally?
I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to play tennis, and I take the sport very seriously because I want to get better and grow as a better player and maybe have a chance to play in college.
- What age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing the sport at 13 years old.
- Who is your favorite pro-athlete in tennis?
My favorite pro-athlete in tennis will have to be Naomi Osaka.
- What are your plans for after high school?
My plans are going to college, getting a nursing degree, and continuing my tennis career.
- Why did you decide to play tennis?
I wanted to play this sport because I saw Serena Williams play, and it just inspired me to try it out, and now, I love it because of her.
- What is your biggest motivation?
One of my biggest motivations is to watch other people play and compete with each other and also have the chance to learn from other players.
Bryce Barringer: All Around Athlete
- What are three reasons why you like being on your sports team?
I personally enjoy sports. They are fun to me and all of my friends play, so I have fun playing with them. Also, it’s one way to help me stay in shape.
- How does your team make practice more fun?
Just by them being there and all of them make it fun.
- Do you have a diet during the season?
I don’t eat as much because we run a lot, but during baseball, I eat a little more, but I still balance a healthy diet.
- How do you feel playing sports emotionally?
A lot of nerves, but when the game starts, it goes all away.
- What age did you start playing your sport?
Baseball six years old, football third grade, basketball fourth grade, and tackle football sixth grade.
- Who is your favorite pro-athlete?
My favorite pro-athletes would have to be Deantre Hopkins for football, James Harden for basketball, and Mike Trout for baseball.
- What are your plans for after high school?
It all depends on how things play out. I will have to look at the offers, if I receive any.
- Why did you decide to play sports?
My parents showed me the sports, and then, I started to like them. I was also good, and I started to make friends on the teams.
- What is your biggest motivation?
My family is my biggest motivation because they are always pushing me to do better and have greater things.
Carson Maurer: Soccer
- What are three reasons why you like being on your sports team?
It’s my second family; we push each other to get better, and I like our coaches.
- How does your team make practice more fun?
My team makes practice more fun because we compete with each other.
- Do you have a diet during the season?
No, not specifically, but I have to eat a lot of calories since we run a lot.
- How do you feel playing soccer emotionally?
I feel very excited when playing, also a little nervous before big games.
- What age did you start playing soccer?
I started to play tennis when I was 3 years old.
- Who is your favorite pro-athlete in soccer?
My favorite soccer player is Lionel Messi.
- What are your plans for after high school?
As of right now, I plan on going to college for soccer after high school.
- Why did you decide to play soccer?
My whole family played soccer. I grew up watching my sisters play as well as my dad coaching them and me throughout our childhoods.
- What is your biggest motivation?
My motivation for this season is the state championship.
Ayla Bundy: Flagline
- What are three reasons why you like being on your sports team?
I have made new friends on the team; it gives me memories for the future, and it’s also something fun for me to do.
- How does your team make practice more fun?
Learning the routines and just being able to dance is fun.
- Do you have a diet during the season?
For the most part, I have a regular diet and eat healthy. During the season, I try to eat healthy, but I still get my calories in.
- How do you feel doing flagline emotionally?
I get a lot of adrenaline at first, but when it’s time to get on the field, I am super excited and ready to go.
- What age did you start playing your sport?
On a team in eighth grade, but I’ve been spinning a flag since I was three.
- Who is your favorite majorette?
My favorite majorette is Misty Copeland.
- What are your plans for after high school?
Marching with DCI has always been a dream; I would like to do a season on DCI.
- Why did you decide to start flagline?
My mom’s family has done it. I’ve grown up with flags all around me. Seeing everyone around me do it made me want to do it, so when I got the opportunity, I took it, and now, here I am.
- What is your biggest motivation?
My biggest motivation would be the adrenaline of being on the field, and everyone looking at you; it’s just a great feeling.
