As the weather begins to get colder, the fall sports also begin to end. The Poland Cross Country Team has exceeded their expectations this season and sent a runner to state.
One of the biggest changes in their season was that Poland’s Cross Country team got moved from Division II to Division III. With this change, there was a lot less competition between other schools.
The entire team both boys and girls all made it to regionals, which last year only Lucas Knez, who is now a Senior, made it.
This year Junior Jocelyne Salaty stayed strong and made it all the way to state.
Lucas Knez discussed the main difference between this season and last season.
Knez said, “Besides the change from Division Three, we have lost some strong seniors, but we also gained some new freshmen with potential to be pretty good. We also had Jocelyne make state. This is a huge step in our cross country team.”
There is a lot of changes that happened this season, but changes always aren’t a bad thing. For the cross country team, changes were pretty good.
Knez also commented on how how they practice, “ After school we will run on the track and go on runs around Poland. During the weekends sometimes, we will have harder practices where we sprint or run further distances.”
Congratulations to Jocelyne Salaty for competing in state, and congratulations to the team for completing the 2025 season, and having the drive to go to the practices and give it their all each and every single day.
As the fall sports come to a close, stay tuned for the Winter Sports recaps!
