The Poland Players are present for their spring musical Anything Goes!
Advisor Emily Gerak has spoken about the musical and why she picked it.
Gerak said, “I picked Anything Goes because it is an older classic that I feel like people of all ages will enjoy. It is also a show that features strong, comical, bets, dancing, and difficult vocals that I feel like we have an excellent group of kids that will nail it.”
Gerak elaborates about the plot of the musical.
She said, “The musical itself is a classic tail of a love triangle between individuals of different social classes. The mail lead sneaks aboard a cruise ship to declare his love to a girl who is engaged to somebody else. All while trying to hide from his boss, who is also aboard the ship and helping other friends that he finds along the way.”
The Poland Player’s recently (December 11-13th) had auditions and workshops.
Gerak said, “Workshops are when we have everyone who would like to try out come and work with our incredible staff to learn vocals and dance that will be featured in the show. We do workshops to help the students learn their audition material and see how they interact with each other. They are a super fun way to get to know some of the material from the show, and show the directors what they can do.”
Auditions can be very stressful, and Gerak shares how the process of auditions work: “My biggest tips for auditions are to try your best and don’t be afraid to ask others for help before hand. We are so blessed that we have some of the best kids, talent wise and especially kindness wise. Don’t be afraid to ask any of the directors for help or the students who have gone through the process before.”
The Poland Players are performing March 19-21! More info will come out closer to the show time on the PSHS website and the Poland Players Instagram!
