Basketball Preview 2025-2026
As the winter sports continue, the boys’ basketball team had its first game on December 9.
Previously, they are coming off a 16-8 season but went 11-1 in conference games, meaning they won the conference and our trying to win it again this year.
Senior Carmine Tukalo led the charge, averaging 18 points per game with lots of talent from the senior class, including Anthony Delluomo, Brady Kendall, and Vito Komara.
They also have star athlete Freshman Maddox Purins, who is going to be a big contributor when he comes back from the injury he had in football.
They came out on top as they beat Boardman 66-56 in a classic home opener. But it has been up and down for the Bulldogs as they are currently sitting 2-2, coming off back-to-back losses to Canfield and Girard.
The Bulldogs play at home vs the South Range raiders, who are 2-3 coming off a loss to Hubbard, a team the Bulldogs already beat this season.
They lost to South Range in their first matchup last year, but Carmine Tukalo hit a game-winning shot to beat them in their second game, so it should be a thriller!
When asked by Junior Guard Nick Nittoli how he thinks the season is currently going, he said, “ I think we’re struggling on the defensive side of things, and we need to pick it up a little to go where we want this year.”
Nittoli has high expectations for this team as he expects them to win the NE8 and finish the season with a winning record. We are wishing them a healthy season and hope for them to win the NE8.
