As the school year winds down, many juniors and seniors are beginning to think seriously about what lies ahead. Whether they have a detailed plan or are simply taking life one step at a time, each student’s journey is uniquely their own. I spoke with two students about their future aspirations and what they envision for themselves beyond these halls.
Nina Kalouris (Senior) has a clear vision for her future. After high school, she plans to attend cosmetology school and then get hired by a salon to gain experience before eventually owning her own business. Nina is going all in on her dream and estimates it will take about five years to bring her career to full advancement.
Saige Paris (Junior) is taking a different but equally valid approach. She says she is not yet sure which path she wants to take, and instead is focused on getting to fully know herself first — and she is completely okay with that.
Every person’s journey looks different, and that is one of the most beautiful things about life. Having a dream and chasing it takes courage, but so does taking a step back and choosing to truly understand yourself before making any big decisions. Both paths require strength, and neither one is more right than the other. It is okay not to have every answer right now. It is okay to explore, to question, and to take your time. Some of the greatest stories begin with someone who simply trusted the process and believed in themselves, even when the road ahead was unclear. To every junior and senior out there — whether you have a plan mapped out or are still finding your way, know that your future is full of endless possibilities. The best is truly yet to come
