PSHS Boys Basketball Season

PSHS+Boys+Basketball+Season

The Poland Boys Basketball team finished the season last year with a 17-9 record with a devastating loss in the 4th round of the playoffs to Chaney in overtime. That was a good record for first year Head Coach Eric Fender, and he will be hoping for many successful seasons in the future. The Bulldogs made an amazing run through the playoffs last year, and overall they look to continue their success into the 2022-2023 season.

However, the Bulldogs lost over ¾ of their scoring from last year. The Bulldogs lost 4 seniors who were a great contribution to the team.

The Bulldogs return several strong seniors who will provide a lot of production and have increased roles this year. Senior Starters Carson Maurer, Noah Huda and Luke Generalovich will return looking to play major roles for the team this year. Bryce Barringer and JP Genova are expected to return. Also seniors, Jacob Allsopp, Derek Thomas, and Joe Gentile will play in certain roles on the team this year.

There will be some juniors and sophomores who will be stepping up to help the team.

Overall, it will probably take Poland a few games to get used to a newer team, but they expect to be really good and make a deep run in the playoffs.

November 29 marked the first game for the Poland Bulldogs Basketball Team. The Bulldogs played the Howland Tigers at home. After a rough football season, some of the Poland players were still a little banged up going into this game. The starters for opening night were Luke Generalovich, Cole Fulton, Danny Nittoli, Carson Maurer, and Noah Huda. This game came down to the wire, going into double overtime. The Tigers pulled through in the last few seconds winning the game by 2. However, it was a great first non-conference game heading into the tough Northeast 8 and other non-conference opponents in the future.

Then fast forward to the next game on December 2nd, when the Bulldogs traveled right down the road to Springfield to take on the Tigers. The Bulldogs got off to a really fast start and never looked back from there. With a huge lead at halftime, the Bulldogs had started playing more subs during the end of the game because they were up so much in the 4th quarter. The Bulldogs beat the Springfield Tigers 63-38; the entire team was dominant on that night. The two high scorers from that game were Junior Cole Fulton and Junior Danny Nittoli.

The Bulldogs have 2 upcoming games this weekend.

They will play the Lakeview Bulldogs at home on Friday December 9  at 7.

Then, they will play Ursuline at home on Saturday December 10 at 5:15 this game will be a part of the United way Tournament.
