Athletes With Aspirations

Athletes+With+Aspirations

High school inevitably means change, and with last year’s seniors gone, the underclassmen must step up and fill in their shoes. The 2023 track & field members are a promising group, and they have plans to do the best they can this season. From personal records to injuries, these athletes’ goals are inspirational and certainly obtainable for a hardworking group like them.

Alexis Antal, a hurdler, has been working through a knee injury recently. On the road to rehabilitation, this resilient runner is aiming to beat her district’s score from last year and make it to the second round. Not only does she want to leave this season better than she started, but she also wants to help the future high school team out. Her goal is to aid the middle school runners, especially the hurdlers, and to encourage them to join the high school team in upcoming years.

Similarly, distance runner Parker Gromen wants to avoid injury this season as he’s faced injuries in his past two seasons. He hopes to have a season similar to his last, and he is working hard to obtain personal records (PR’s) or times similar to his PR’s.

Daniel Pike, a senior distance runner, wants to do his best for his last season and hopes for his own improvement as he prepares to graduate. Pike continues to work for better times and PR’s.

New track & field members are also aiming for a first season they can be proud of. Caden Buck, a new distance runner, starts off strong and is hoping to improve his times and also obtain PR’s.

Off the track and onto the field, thrower Katie Biggs looks to improve for the future. She currently is aiming to throw 125 ft. in discus and wants a good throwing environment. Her ultimate goals are to start the season off strong and to throw in college. Last year, Biggs qualified for regionals and hopes to do better and eventually make it to state.

If these athletes continue to put in hard work, good things and PR’s will come out of it. Keep up with the 2023 track and field members to see their improvement and achievements!
