The time of year where final exam preparation has come around again at Poland Seminary High School. After speaking with guidance, there are many factors that students should be aware of, if not already. If not previously known, some may still have questions: how can I best prepare? What are the rules surrounding attendance?
For starters, there is no word that the final schedule will alter anytime soon. As per past years, the schedule states that periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 will have exams on day one, or Monday, June 1st, and periods 2, 4, 6, and make-ups will take place on day two, or Tuesday, June 2nd.
Stated by guidance, “Checking schedules accordingly to arrange schedule flexibility is highly advised.”
Mr. Vagas, a Guidance Counselor at PSHS, said, “It probably wouldn’t hurt to use office hours to discuss expectations over the tested material.”
Rescheduling exams is another question that typically rises.
Syllabi usually states that “if a student has many exams per day, it is up to them to reschedule with their teacher(s), no early exam unless instructed otherwise.”
This is followed by a general rule of core class exams unable to be rescheduled, but electives are openly able to be. Accordingly, any absences will result in a zero upon grading.
We wish good luck to students taking finals this June 1st and 2nd!
Here is a copy of the schedule.

Students are fully expected to be in attendance and on time during the required testing period. Any unexcused absence will result in a zero on the exam. Excused absences are listed as: Medical, Court, Bereavement of an immediate family member
- NO EARLY EXAMS UNLESS DIRECTED BY AN ADMINISTRATOR OR THE GUIDANCE OFFICE – EXAMS MUST BE GIVEN ON EXAM DATES ONLY!!
UNDERCLASSMEN CHROMEBOOK COLLECTION will take place in the fieldhouse immediately following the student’s last final. There will be tables set up by grade level.
