Logan Flament: Cross Country State Meet Recap
After a successful regular season with the cross country team, a qualification to districts along with regionals, Logan Flament competed at the state meet in Columbus, on November 6th.
As he only had limited time to prepare for the upcoming meet after regionals were finished, Flament shares some of the preparations he made to get ready for his race.
“I decreased my mileage and did some short easy workouts to freshen up my legs. I also stretched a lot,” Flament said.
For cross country, going to State is a huge accomplishment. Flament competed against the top runners in Ohio. He ended up placing very high up, which is a whole other level of accomplishment on its own.
Reflecting on the meet in general Flament said, “The state meet was a great experience, and I am happy with my performance.”
Placing 13th in the state and 2nd for juniors, Flament’s preparations paid off. Along with those placings, he also surpassed his personal best by 10 seconds and ran a time of 16:02.
Recalling the most memorable moments from the state meet, Flament shared: “My best memory from the meet was finishing and realizing that the season was over and that I could finally begin training for track.”
Looking to the future-track season especially, Flament has a few goals in mind: “I want to run around 9:20 in the 2 mile and 4:20 in the mile. I hope to place top 3 at the state meet.”
Looking even further ahead, to Flament’s senior cross country season coming in Fall 2022, he has even greater goals: “I have the ambitious goal of being a state champion and breaking the school record.”
With the support of his school and his teammates, there is no doubt that Flament will be unable to achieve his goals.
Lastly, Flament leaves his peers and teammates with some important advice: “I want to say that it’s very important to find an area you are interested in and commit to being the absolute best you can be at it. You will learn a lot about yourself in the process as well as the mindset and skills that can help you reach high places in life.”
