What would you do if you had all eternity? On November 20-22, many joined the Poland Players to watch their latest production of Tuck Everlasting which explored that question.
I had the opportunity to speak with the senior cast of the musical about the behind the scenes of dress rehearsal week!
I interviewed Alyssa Davis (Betsy Foster), Celia Fleet (Mae Tuck), Delaney Demetrios (Winnie Foster), Collin Rodgers (Jessie Tuck), Len Svatosky (Man In The Yellow Suit), and Rowan Downie (Miles Tuck) during the dress rehearsal prior to the show.
Senior Alyssa Davis expressed her favorite part of dress rehearsal with us: “I love being able to watch all the different parts of the musical really come together right before the show. From the band to the tech box, dress rehearsal is where we get to see all our hard work really pays off.”
Senior Celia Fleet said, “If I could play any other character in Tuck Everlasting, I would be Hugo. I think that Hugo is such a complex and entertaining character, and it would be so fun to be able to display his humor to the audience. Despite this, I still think that Alex Demetrios plays the role perfectly and would never change it.”
Along with the catchy songs such as “Live Like this” to “Everlasting,” I spoke with Senior and President of Poland Players Delaney Demetrios, concerning the music selections.
Demetrios said, “My favorite song has to be the opening number ‘Live Like This.’ It is a great introduction to the show and the characters. The harmonies are very beautiful and it is very catchy,” she explained happily.
Senior Collin Rodgers shared, “I would say my favorite scene would be the “Top of the World” scene due to the freedom of expression I am given both acting wise, and vocally, during my song.”
One thing you’ll learn about the Poland Players, everyone has a favorite show night.
Senior Len Svatosky said, “For me, my favorite show night varies from show to show; it depends on everyone’s performance level each night, everyone’s overall mood including mine, what to look forward to after the show, etc!”
Congratulations to the Poland Players on a performance well done by all! The Poland Players announced that the next play production will be Anything Goes in the Spring.
