Alexandra Nigh is a Sophomore at Poland Seminary High School, and also an entrepreneur. Nigh launched her business Just Because Sweets earlier this year, and she uses this platform to share her delicious desserts. She advertises through an Instagram account under her business name. You can also find her business at various craft shows in the area.
Nigh first started baking when she was young as a hobby that she shared with her grandmother. One of the main reasons for starting her business was to share her grandmother’s love for baking, and her delicious recipes.
Nigh said she “…felt her recipes were too good to go unshared.”
Some of her most well known recipes include her chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and brownies. Her signature recipe is a basic cookie dough batter with M and M’s mixed in. This is a family recipe that originated with her late grandmother.
Allie is a very busy, and dedicated student involved in Interact Club, Outdoors Club, Spanish Club, track, and many high level classes. This rigorous schedule takes up most of her time, but Allie’s determination allows her to create and share her delicious treats.
When we asked Allie about making room for her business within her schedule, she said, “Sometimes it is a big sacrifice with time but it is worth it when people can enjoy my grandma’s recipes and I can share her skills with the world.”
Her main motivation for running this business is “keeping [her] grandmother’s memory alive” and “seeing people enjoy [her] treats”.
She hopes to start fulfilling orders this Christmas season.
If you would like to inquire about an order please visit her business Instagram under Just Because Sweets and send her a DM. Allie is an extraordinary student, friend, and business owner, so please buy locally, and support her small bakery!
