One of the boys on the Varsity basketball team has hit a milestone that very little people get to gloat about. Senior Carmine Tukalo has officially hit the 1000 points club!

Tukalo reached this milestone in a recent Game against South Range where Tukalo dropped 27 points and led the Bulldogs to a victory. 

Carmine has been playing varsity basketball since his sophomore year. This is when we first started covering Carmine and his journey in basketball.

Back in 2023 when Carmine made his first debut in a varsity game, we interviewed him about how he felt starting for Varsity. Tukalo said,  “I have a lot to prove this year as a sophomore guard. I know what I’m capable of and I’m gonna do it. Just gonna be a leader out there for us and run a smooth offense for our team as our point guard. I’m not just here to play, I’m out here to show people who I am and win ” 

Carmine has definitely proved himself, and made a lasting impact in the school for his most recent achievement. 1000 points has only been achieved by a few other boys to play basketball at Poland.

Tukalo said “I played the 1000 point game like it was any other game” He was more focused on the team than hitting 1,000 points. That is real sportsmanship.

We wish Carmine all the best for the rest of the season. We also hope the boys and girls basketball teams can make the post season and possibly make deep runs!
